Another late goal from Greece and then a rather boring period of extra time. Greece’s poor finishing and decision making in the final third in extra time cost them as they had decent possession and even a 5 on 2 break where then ended up with a poor shot from wide. Costa Rica were dead on their feet and offered nothing. The red card changed the game completely but Costa Rica looked to be going down the Mexico route of defending in numbers and only attacking as a way of wasting time rather than looking to score again.
Van Gaal changed the game completely against Mexico in the final part. Moved Robben from his central position and forced him out wide where he ran amok. Marquez had a bad time whenever he was one on one with him and was not a goo decision to try and tackle him where he did. The Dutch can’t keep conceding goals and coming back. They need to score first sometimes!
