Week 29 Bets (10.05.08) Part I

SSS Tips

The league season finishes in England this weekend and nice to see it coming down to the wire. Looking at Wigan’s form of late United have a tough game and there might be a few players trying to show what they can do. Bookies have United as very short odds on.

As the games in England, Italy and Spain are being played on Sunday there is not enough information available so will do this in two parts. On Saturday games in France, Germany and Scotland are being played so will concentrate on those first. Well, it’s actually just France for the bet but the others appear in the rinse. With luck corner odds etc will be out tonight and I can get the rest of the bets done then, if not then Saturday morning.

It’s a hard weekend to choose games as there are teams with nothing to play for, but I’m pretty sure that I read that it actually makes little difference to the outcome if a team has to win or not.

Last week I mentioned that I am revamping the site for next season. If you have any comments on anything you like or don’t like or would like to see it is always appreciated and I can be e-mailed on mail@simplesoccerstats.com. Any other leagues you would like to see?

Standard bets for Satuday.

Lille v Lens (france – sat 8:45pm local time)

The final relegation spot in France looks to be between Lens, PSG and Toulouse and all 3 have tough games. Lens are struggling having taken just 7 points from the last 30 and have just 1 win in the last 13 games and away from home have lost 5 of the last 6. Lille drew away at St Etienne last weekend who are their main rivals for the final UEFA cup spot. “The minimum was to take a point, which is what we did,” Lille coach Claude Puel said. “Now we need to take maximum points in our last two games, even though Saint-Etienne has the cards in hand.” Not my translation! This shows the game is important for them and with 21 of a possible 30 from the last 10 games only Bordeaux have a better form record. They have won 4 of the last 6 at home and in the last 10 games at home when they scored they won all but one. As Lens have managed just 2 away clean sheets all season you would imagine that to happen and hopefully they can then go on to win.

1 point staked so far. More to follow.

Spinner Rinse

This week I was tempted just to flush my money down the toilet rather than bet the rinse but with the odds stacked against me have plucked for Rangers to beat Dundee United, Hearts to beat Kilmarnock (both Scotland), Werder Bremen to beat Hannover (Germany), Juventus to beat Catania (Italy) and Villareal to beat Espanyol (Spain)  .

NOTES

Further bets to follow and all games will be updated on Monday morning.
