Week 6 (12/09/08)

Well it’s later than I hoped but it’s good to finally be ready to place some bets again. I am still working on the site and that has eaten into the time I can search for bets and as a result I am sticking to things I know well and have not been able to scour the whole console.

I have been slightly distracted this evening by the Jamie Lidell myspace site which has some great music.

I hope people have been able to check out the console and see the new functionality. Just below where you choose the match to view there are some radio buttons and ‘Standard Components’, ‘Half Time Components’ and ‘Non-Result Components’ are all working so please take a look at them and feedback is always appreciated. I’ll crack the mini console this week and with luck everything will be up and running next week. Then I can add hints, tips tutorials etc.

As we are still quite early in the season it is pretty hard to find stats based bets. However, onto this first week and I want to begin with a corner bet. I have found these to be quite successful over the last 2 seasons.

Liverpool v Manchester United (English Premiership: Saturday 12:45BST)

Personally, I think United will struggle much more this year without Ronaldo early on and Queroz is a big loss. Liverpool have started well and I think this game will show whether they really can be contenders for once. My bet has nothing to do with them winning or losing but is all about corners. Last season at Anfield no team ever had more corners than Liverpool. Man United andBolton both managed to draw but in the other 17 games Liverpool had at least 2 more corners than the opposition. If we also then look at games between the Big 4 over the past 4 seasons we that at Anfield Liverpool have had less corners than the opposition twice, drawn once and then had more corners 8 times. In 7 of these 8 (7/12 overall) they have won by more than 1. The bet I therefore like is the Asian handicap Liverpool -1 bet as this is only a loser if Liverpooldon’t have more corners than the opposition and we have a little safety net if they win by just one. The 7/12 chance from the Big 4 matches equates to 1.71 and last season 17/19 being wins by more than one is odds of 1.12.

++ Asian Handicap Corners – Liverpool -1 @ 2.0 on Bet365 (1pt)

Bradford v ExeterCity (English League 2: Saturday 3pmBST)

Looking through the console this stuck out. As I said earlier it needs more stats but hopefully there is still some use there. Bradford started the season well with 4 wins out of 5 and have scored 2 goals in every game. Exeter are the visitors and although they have won twice they have only scored 4 goals in their games. I think Bradford will be too good for them and a lot of teams in the division and hopefully will keep up their goalscoring record. They have scored on average 1.2 goals more than Exeter each game and with the win at just 1.73 the Asian Handicap -0.5, -1 looks a nice way to boost the odds.

++ Asian Handicap – Bradford -0.5, -1 (-0.75) @ 2 on Bet365 (1pt)

Alternative is 1.98 on Ladbrokes

2 points staked on the weekend and a possible bet on the Monday night Spurs v Villa game.
